End-user guide

This guide covers everyday use of MyDrive once your administrator has created your account.

Signing in

Go to the URL your administrator shared with you (for example https://drive.example.com) and sign in with the credentials from your invite email, or complete registration if open signup is enabled.

Uploading files

  • Drag and drop files or folders anywhere in the file browser.
  • Or click Upload and choose files from your device.
  • Upload progress shows per file; large files can be paused and resumed.

If an upload is rejected, it’s usually because it exceeds the maximum file size or isn’t an allowed file type — both are set by your administrator and shown in the error message.

Organizing files

  • Create folders with New → Folder.
  • Move files by dragging them onto a folder, or with Move to from the right-click menu.
  • Star files or folders you use often to pin them to the sidebar.

Sharing

  1. Right-click a file or folder and choose Share.
  2. Choose Anyone with the link (with optional password and expiry date) or Specific people, entering their MyDrive email.
  3. Set the permission level: View, Comment, or Edit.

Shared links can be revoked at any time from the Shared by me view.

Checking your storage usage

Your quota and current usage are shown at the bottom of the sidebar. If you’re near your limit, MyDrive shows a warning and a link to the trash, in case old deleted files are still counting against your quota during their retention period.

Restoring deleted files

Deleted files move to Trash and stay recoverable for the retention period your administrator has configured (30 days by default). Right-click a file in Trash and choose Restore, or Delete permanently to free up space immediately.
